HOW IF.NET WORKS
The if.netOnline Talent Search Contest Terms govern participation in the if.net Online Talent Search, so please read them. Start here to get an overview of the if.net Online Talent Search and the answers to some frequently asked questions.
What is if.net?
if.net is a social networking website that may from time-to-time runs contests in which people with various talents submit content of themselves showcasing their talent for an opportunity to win a prize or opportunity related to your talent. For example, a person with great acting talent may get the opportunity to go to Hollywood to meet an industry professional who may be able to give them a career building break, or a person with great jewelry making skills may get the chance to have their jewelry showcased in some public fashion like being worn by a celebrity or showcased in a popular magazine.
Who can participate?
Residents of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia who are at least 13 years of age at the time of entry and legally able to work in the United States can participate, but see the if.net Online Talent Search Contest Terms "Who Can Participate" for additional restrictions on who can participate.
How do I participate in if.net?
Simply create your own content submissions ("Contest Media") that best highlight your skills and talent in one of the many categories in which we are searching for talent. Then upload your content and GET OUT THE VOTE. It is up to you to tell your friends - and have them tell their friends - that you need their vote to help you win the opportunity.
Once you have created your content, visit if.net and completely fill out the registration form and follow the online instructions to submit any additional required information to upload your content. Please see the Online Talent Search Contest Terms "Contest Media Requirements" for additional restrictions on the content submissions. If you are an eligible minor (under the age of 18 or other age of majority in the state where you live), your parent or legal guardian must register you and submit your Contest Media.
Can my video contain music?
Any music contained within Contest Media must be original compositions entirely created solely by you, or in the public domain.
Also, it is each participant's responsibility to make sure that anyone who appears in or is heard in your Contest Media has given you their permission to be in your content. You can find some sample release forms that you can use HERE.
How does the voting work?
Submit and designate the Contest Media that best showcases the talent we are searching for in that particular contest. You may upload Contest Media at any time to your personalized Profile page on the if.net website; however, you may select only one element from your Contest Media per Contest to be considered as part of the selection process. Unless you remove Contest Media from a specific Contest, that Contest Media will continue to be voted on during the Talent Search Contest Period. Voting restarts for each new Contest that you may enter. For example, any Contest Media that receives 100 votes during the first Contest you may enter shall start over at zero during a subsequent Contest you may enter. Once you have entered a Contest, if you choose to change the Contest Media you selected to be considered during a Contest or remove your entry from the Contest during any time within that Contest, that change will cause the number of votes you receive for that Contest to reset back to zero.
My friend knows a lot about computers; maybe he can get me a million votes!
To keep the contests fair, voters can vote for each participant only once per day per contest. Any individual who, as determined in Producer's sole discretion, attempts to register, or is suspected of registering, more than once by any means, including, without limitation, establishing multiple e-mail accounts, will be disqualified.
Votes for a participant in a particular contest will be counted only for that Contest and will not roll over into future Contests. Our computers are very smart - we will be looking out for "bots" and other unfair ways of generating votes and we will not count them. So, play fair!
What are you looking for?
Although bad auditions can be fun to watch, we are looking for genuinely talented people who, with a little help, could really benefit from winning the Contest. The Producer, at its sole discretion, has the right to remove Contest Media entries that to not reasonably fit the requirements of a particular contest.

You will always see yourself listed in the local featured members section if you are logged in.

What is considered inappropriate content?
If.net encourages members to use common sense when uploading content. If your children/parents would be offended then it may offend other community members. The site does not have official moderators and relies on the community to police itself. If content is flagged as inappropriate by a member it is reviewed by site masters and either deemed permissible or is removed.

Once you register with if.net and create a profile, visit the contests home page and select "Enter this Contest." This can be caused by two things: either your connection is too slow or our servers are experiencing heavy traffic. Users with broadband connections with at least 500Kbps will have the best viewing experience. Heavy traffic on the servers usually occurs between 7am and 11am, and between 6pm and 11pm. If you notice a slowdown you may want to visit the site outside of these times.
