   I am sure everyone is just as deserving as the next for a waterproof video camera. However, I will still make my bid why I need it. There is a small black dot in my filmmaking career. In middle school, I took a trip with my family to see my cousins in Branchport, New York. Eve 6 had just come out with their debut album with "Inside Out." My cousins loved the song and so did I, so naturally we were going to make a music video. I was allowed to make videos and films and stop start animation here and there with my parents video camera. Cameras were still expensive then and not every kid could just have one. I convinced my parents once again to let me use it, but this was their brand new camera (the 8mm had just come out). WELL.... It was very imperative that I get a shot that I had never done before. See, my cousins had a pool. We did not. So it would have made the music video the best thing since sliced bread. After hatching our plan of doing it, we decided a sure fire plan would be to ask the parents assuring them of it's upmost protection and using a zip lock bag and duct tape. Crazy enough or perhaps my skills of asking, they decided to let me do it. We put it in a zip lock bag, air tight and duct taped the end. Under water we went and came back up, dry as the desert sand. We checked out the tape, all we could see was the milky colors of the zip lock bag. Well, of course that meant only one thing, we had to try something else and this time we wouldn't tell the parents. How can we get it waterproof without having all this room within the bag. Maybe suran (sp?) wrap! So we wrapped our camera in seran wrap and then duct taped the pieces where the seran wrap came together. We dove in the pool. Started fake singing under water, came up, unwrapped our now wet camera. It was ruined, the tape and the camera. Needless to say I was grounded and I awaited the return of my father who went to the grocery store to pick up some food. EVER SINCE, I have wanted a water camera, to redeem my stupidity but passion as a filmmaker to make the impossible possible...hopefully this time without ruining equipment!
